Denim set, hooded vest and long skirt

A two-piece set in washed cotton denim: buttoned hooded vest and long skirt with gathered flounces.

A set in washed cotton denim made of two coordinated pieces: a hooded vest fastened with metal buttons, and a long, very flared skirt. The fabric has been through a water wash that gives it a supple drape, without the stiffness of raw denim.

The cut

The vest is roomy, slightly flared below the waist seam, with gathered flounces at the bottom that break the straight line of the denim. The sleeves are long, the hood is made in the same fabric. Two patch pockets on the front.

The skirt sits high on the waist and opens wide down to the ankles. Vertical flounces run along the seams, and a final flounce finishes the hem. Together they give movement as you walk without weighing the silhouette down.

How to wear it

• As a full denim look, with flat ankle boots or low sneakers.
• Vest alone, open over a white t-shirt and straight-leg jeans.
• Skirt alone, with a fine ribbed sweater tucked in at the waist.
• Under a long wool coat when the temperature drops.

The finishes

Visible seams, an uneven washed effect particular to the water treatment, metal buttons on the front of the vest. The shades of the wash may vary slightly from one piece to another: that is how washing works, not a fault.

Fabric and care

Composition: 100% cotton denim, washed finish by water wash. Metal buttons on the vest.

Care: Machine wash at 30 °C on a delicate cycle, inside out and separately from light-colored pieces for the first washes. No tumble dryer: the cotton would shrink. Dry flat or on a hanger, in the shade. Iron at medium temperature on the reverse if needed. Avoid bleach and oxygen stain removers, which mark the wash.

Size

One size. The cut is deliberately roomy: the vest falls straight from the shoulders then flares, the skirt is very wide and its high waist adjusts through gathering. The set generally corresponds to a size S to XL, with a more pronounced volume on smaller sizes. The supplier has not provided a measurement chart. If you prefer a structured, close-fitting drape, this piece is not made for that.

Good to know

• Can one size really fit me? The piece is built on volume: the vest does not depend on a fitted chest measurement and the skirt is gathered at the waist. The main variable is height: the skirt reaches the ankles on a frame of about 1.65 m, and lower below that.
• Will the denim bleed? Like any washed denim, it may release a little color in the first washes. Wash it separately two or three times, at 30 °C and inside out: the shade then settles.
• Is it too warm or too heavy to wear? The denim has been water-washed, which softens it. It stays denser than poplin but keeps some fluidity. It is a mid-season piece, wearable from autumn to spring.
