Printed denim set, hooded jacket and wide-leg pants

A two-piece denim set, short hooded jacket and very wide pants, cut wide with a graphic print.

A complete denim set, designed to be worn as it is. The short hooded jacket stops at the hips, the pants take over with a very wide leg and a fluid drape. Together they compose a roomy silhouette, retro workwear in spirit, with no effort of coordination.

The cut

The jacket is oversized: dropped shoulders, balloon sleeves gathered towards the wrist, hip length (between 50 and 65 cm depending on the back measurement). It closes with a zip at the front and works as well open over a t-shirt as closed to the top, hood up.

The pants are built high-waisted, with a very wide leg falling straight from the hip. A knee panel underlined by a horizontal seam structures the leg. The hem is left raw and frayed, a deliberate choice that becomes slightly more pronounced in the first washes.

The fabric

Medium-weight cotton denim, neither stiff nor fluid. Held enough for the jacket to keep its shape and the wide leg not to collapse, supple enough to wear all day. A pronounced vintage-style wash, with a contrasting geometric and floral print placed on the upper bodice and on one sleeve. Panel seams and visible topstitching structure the front.

How to wear it

• As a full denim look, with low sneakers or square-toed boots.
• Jacket alone over dark straight-leg jeans or black pants, to calm the print.
• Pants alone with a ribbed tank or a fine close-fitting sweater, to balance the volume.
• Over the shoulders, as a third piece, when mid-season cannot make up its mind.

Season

Spring and autumn. In winter, the jacket goes over a fine knit; the fullness of the sleeves leaves the room.

Fabric and care

Composition: Cotton denim, medium weight, unlined. Print applied by printing on the fabric. Denim hood, zip fastening, two large patch pockets.

Care: Machine wash at 30 °C, inside out, delicate cycle, with dark colors. The first washes may bleed slightly: wash the set on its own the first time. No tumble dryer; dry flat or on a hanger in the shade to protect the print and the wash. Iron at medium temperature on the reverse, avoiding the printed area. The frayed leg hem frays a little further over the washes: cut the longest threads with scissors if you want to keep a clean fringe.

Size

One size, designed for a roomy silhouette: it generally corresponds to a size S to XL. Jacket: back length between 50 and 65 cm depending on the measuring point, dropped shoulders, long balloon sleeves. Pants: high waist elasticated at the back, very wide leg. If you usually wear an XL, the set is still wearable but the oversized effect will be softened. Below an S, the jacket will fall very low on the hips and the pants will need a hem or a turn-up.

Good to know

• One size — can that really fit me? The set is deliberately cut wide: the fullness makes the silhouette, not the fit. It generally corresponds to a size S to XL. The pant waist is elasticated at the back, which absorbs differences in build. On the other hand, if you are looking for a close-fitting cut, this piece is not made for that.
• Will the frayed leg hem come apart? The hem is left raw — that is an aesthetic choice. It frays slightly in the first washes then settles. If the fringe lengthens, a snip with scissors is enough to straighten it. To contain it, wash the set inside out and avoid the tumble dryer.
• Isn't the print too much for every day? It is placed, not repeated everywhere: the upper bodice and one sleeve. The rest of the set is classic washed denim. If you find it too present as a full look, wear the pants alone with a plain top, or the jacket open over dark jeans.
