Cotton denim set, buttoned jacket and wide trousers

A complete set in washed cotton denim: a buttoned hooded jacket and pants with a very wide leg, coordinated. Both pieces carry the same applied panels set on the bias, drawing a discreet geometric patchwork effect. The topstitching is tonal, the wash concentrates on the seams.

The cut

The jacket is frankly oversized: dropped armholes, low shoulders, elasticated cuffs. A gathered seam under the bust creates a light flounce and flares the hem. The pants sit on an elasticated waist, with no pressure, and fall straight and fluid to the ankle. The set is worn with owned volume, never fitted.

How to wear it

As a full look, with a plain close-fitting top underneath and low sneakers or low-heeled ankle boots. The two pieces separate very well: the jacket over a midi dress or straight-leg jeans, the pants with a fine knit tucked in at the waist. The black color stays the easiest to mix, the blue reads more workwear.

When to wear it

Mid-season, autumn and mild winter. The denim is thick enough to stand alone on a cool day, and the roomy cut leaves space for a fine sweater underneath.

Fabric and care

Composition: Cotton denim. Water-wash finish, which softens the cloth and creates the wash on the seams. Hood lined in denim.

Care: Machine wash at 30 °C, inside out, with similar colors. The first washes may bleed slightly: wash the set on its own the first time. No bleach. Air dry, flat or on a wide hanger; tumble drying is not advised. Iron at medium temperature on the reverse if needed.

Size

One size, designed for an oversized silhouette. It generally corresponds to a size S to XL, depending on the volume you are after. Indicative flat measurements: jacket about 60 cm wide under the armholes and 62 cm back length; pants with an elasticated waist stretching from about 66 to 96 cm around, inseam about 68 cm and a very wide thigh. If you are under 1.65 m, the pants will fall longer: a hem or a turn-up settles it.

Good to know

• One size — can that really fit me? The cut is deliberately roomy and the pant waist is elasticated, which absorbs a good part of the differences in build. Count on a size S to XL. Beyond that, the volume of the jacket is still wearable but the pants will pull at the waist.
• Will the denim bleed? Like any dyed denim, it may bleed slightly in the first washes, especially in blue. Wash the piece on its own the first time, inside out and at 30 °C. After that the wash evolves gently, which is also part of the character of the fabric.
• Won't the set widen me? The volume is frank — that is the choice made for the piece. To balance it, wear a close-fitting top under the jacket, or split the two pieces. The pants with a fitted top tucked in at the waist give a clean silhouette.
