Long pleated skirt with lace and fringing

A maxi skirt in two tiers: floral lace over the hips, a moving pleated flounce down to the ankles.

This long skirt plays on two materials in a single piece. The top is a panel of lace with floral motifs, set straight over the hips. It finishes in a scalloped border underlined with a knotted fringe, which marks the line and moves with every step. Below, a wide, finely pleated flounce falls to the ankles and gives the silhouette all its movement.

The waistband is flat and elasticated, with a tie at the side. You adjust the hold with no fastening or zip, and the waist stays supple all day. The construction is in tonal panels, in a plain colour, which keeps the whole readable despite the work of the materials.

How to wear it

• With square-heeled ankle boots and a fine knit tucked into the waistband, for a city look.
• With high boots and a long coat in winter: the maxi length covers well.
• With a ribbed T-shirt and a short blouson, if you want to break up the romantic side.

Two wardrobe-staple colourways

The black for a graphic result, where the lace shows through relief. The coffee, warmer, goes with beige, cream and burgundy. Both are worn from morning to evening.

What to know

The polyester gives a fluid drape, a slightly stretchy material and pleating that does not flatten. The weight is standard: it is an autumn-winter piece, to wear with opaque tights when it is cold. The skirt is delivered with its tags.

Fabric and care

Composition: 100% polyester. Slightly stretchy material, standard weight. Construction in tonal panels, upper panel in lace with floral motifs, scalloped border with a knotted fringe, finely pleated lower flounce. Flat elasticated waistband with a tie at the side.

Care: Machine wash at 30 °C on a delicate programme, preferably in a net bag to protect the lace and the fringing. No bleach. Air dry, hung on a hanger: the pleating falls back into place on its own. Avoid the tumble dryer. If needed, gentle ironing at low temperature on the reverse, without dwelling on the pleating or the lace. Store the skirt hanging and keep the fringing away from velcro and jewellery that catches.

Size

One size. The elasticated waistband and the tie let you adjust the waist measurement: the skirt generally corresponds to a size S to XL. The supplier has not provided a measurement chart. The line is flared, with no constraint on the hips. Maxi length: the skirt comes to the ankle on a height of 1.65 m to 1.70 m, and skims the floor above that. If you are shorter, plan on heeled ankle boots or a slight shortening of the hem.

Good to know

• Is polyester pleasant to wear in winter? Yes, provided you wear it as intended: with opaque tights or fine leggings underneath. The polyester is chosen here for its fluid drape and for holding the pleating, which does not flatten in the wash. The weight is standard, neither see-through nor heavy.
• Will one size really fit me? The waistband is flat and elasticated, backed by a tie at the side: you draw it in to your waist. The flared line does not constrain the hips. We recommend this skirt in a size S to XL. Beyond that, comfort at the waist remains possible but the hold will be tighter.
• Are the lace and the fringing fragile? They are textured elements, to be treated as such: a 30 °C wash on a delicate programme in a net bag, air drying, storage on a hanger. With those precautions, the lace does not snag and the knotted fringe keeps its shape. Simply avoid rubbing against a bag with aggressive fastenings.
