Wide high-waisted cargo jeans in raw denim

Dark blue cargo jeans with a very wide leg, high waist and a raw denim that holds the volume without moulding.

These cargo jeans play on a single effect: volume. The leg is very wide, slightly tapered towards the bottom, and the generous length breaks on the shoe. The high waist marks the hollow of the waist, which avoids a sack effect and keeps a readable silhouette.

The denim is a raw, unwashed cotton. Its dark blue shade is deep and even, with no worn effect or whiskering. The canvas is rigid at first: it is what gives the trousers their hold and their clean creases down the leg. It softens gradually with wear and takes on your own creases.

The details that make the piece

• Two cargo pockets with buttoned flaps on the thighs, genuinely usable.
• Patch back pockets with a flap and a press stud.
• Contrasting sand-tone topstitching on the main seams, which draws the leg.
• Horizontal panel seams at the knee and on the thigh, to break up the height of the volume.

How to wear them

The volume at the bottom calls for a top close to the body: a ribbed vest, a fitted T-shirt tucked into the waist, a fine roll-neck. With a flat-heeled boot or a high-top trainer, the length breaks nicely over the foot. In winter, a short jacket or a leather blouson keeps the balance. For a total denim look, stay on a close blue or a frankly lighter one, never in between.

Good to know about raw denim

Being unwashed, the dark blue may bleed slightly over the first few washes. Wash the piece on its own or with dark colours, inside out. Avoid sitting on a light-coloured sofa in the first few days.

Fabric and care

Composition: Unwashed cotton denim, rigid canvas with a firm hold. The composition in figures is not communicated by our supplying workshop: we prefer not to invent it. The material behaves like a classic raw denim, dry to the touch, softening with wear.

Care: Machine wash at 30 °C, inside out, with dark colours. The first few washes are best done separately, as raw denim can bleed. No bleach. Air dry, flat or hung by the waistband; avoid the tumble dryer, which shrinks the leg. Iron at medium temperature on the reverse if necessary. Close the press studs and the flaps before washing.

Size

Garment measurements taken flat, to be doubled for the full circumference. S: waist 64 cm, hips 102 cm, thigh 68 cm, total length 100 cm. M: waist 68 cm, hips 106 cm, thigh 70 cm, length 101 cm. L: waist 72 cm, hips 110 cm, thigh 72 cm, length 102 cm. XL: waist 76 cm, hips 114 cm, thigh 74 cm, length 103 cm. The front rise runs from 31 to 32.5 cm, the back rise from 40 to 41.5 cm depending on the size. Measurements taken by hand: a difference of 2 to 4 cm is normal. As the denim is rigid, it gives almost nothing in waist width: if you hesitate, take the size up. The length is designed to break on the shoe; under 1.65 m, plan on a hem.

Good to know

• The denim is rigid: is that uncomfortable? It is dry on the first wear, and that is what gives the leg its hold. The high waist and the back rise of 40 to 41.5 cm leave ease when seated. The canvas softens after a few wears and takes on your creases.
• Such a wide leg — doesn't it shorten the silhouette? That is what the high waist is for: it places the waistband at the narrowest point and lengthens the leg. Wear a fitted top or one tucked into the waist, and the proportion stays clean. The horizontal panel seams also break up the mass.
• How can I be sure of my size without trying them on? Measure a pair of trousers you already wear, flat, and compare with the table: that is more reliable than your body waist measurement. As the denim does not give, we advise the size up if you hesitate.
