Long pleated knit skirt with a belt

A long midi skirt in soft knit, elasticated high waist and a fine belt, to wear Monday to Sunday.

A long skirt in fine knit, cut in an A-line. The top is marked by vertical ribs that structure the silhouette, then the volume opens out gradually towards the bottom. The length falls below the calf, at about 94 cm, for a supple drape that follows your walk.

The cut

The waist is knitted in rib and elasticated, with no zip or button. You pull it on, it settles, and it does not dig in. The fine leather-look belt, with its gold metal buckle, runs through the built-in loops and draws the waist in to avoid a tube effect. You can also remove it and let the knit fall straight from the waist.

The fabric

A fine knit, slightly downy, with a wool-like look. It is matte, with no shine, and holds the fold of the ribs well. Its weight (about 550 g for the piece) gives it substance: the bottom does not fly up and the skirt keeps its line.

How to wear it

• At the office: a fine roll-neck tucked in at the waist, belt buckled, low-heeled ankle boots.
• At the weekend: a big jumper worn over the top, belt over the jumper, white trainers or flat boots.
• In winter: a long straight coat, with the skirt showing just below the hem.

The neutral tones — black, ecru, coffee brown, oat beige — combine effortlessly with the rest of your wardrobe.

What to know

It is an autumn-winter piece, comfortable, designed to be worn often. The knit calls for a gentle wash and flat drying, like any knitwear.

Fabric and care

Composition: Fine knit with a wool-like look, slightly downy to the touch, matte. The detailed composition has not been communicated to us by the manufacturer: we prefer to put nothing forward rather than state a material we have not verified. Fine belt in a leather-look material, gold metal buckle. Weight of the piece: about 550 g.

Care: Hand wash or machine wash at 30 °C, wool or delicate programme, in a net bag. No fabric softener. Do not spin hard. Dry flat, in the shade, so the weight of the knit does not lengthen the skirt. Iron at low temperature if necessary, following the direction of the ribs. Remove the belt before washing.

Size

One size. Waist measured flat, unstretched: 64 cm, with good elasticity in the ribbed knit. It generally corresponds to a size S to XL depending on your shape and how much ease you want. Total length: 94 cm, that is a below-the-calf length for a height of about 1.65 m to 1.70 m; expect the ankle below 1.60 m. If in doubt, measure a skirt you already wear and compare the length.

Good to know

• One size: will it really fit me? The waist is knitted in rib and elasticated; it opens well beyond the 64 cm measured flat. It generally corresponds to a size S to XL. Beyond that, or if you dislike elasticated waists, the cut may not suit you.
• Won't the knit be see-through? The knit is fine but dense, with a matte wool-like look and a weight of 550 g for the piece. It is not designed to be see-through. In the light colourways such as ecru or oat beige, underwear in a close shade remains preferable.
• Is the skirt likely to pill or lose its shape? It is a knit, so it asks for a little attention: a delicate wash, no strong spin, flat drying. Flat drying is the key point — it stops the skirt lengthening under its own weight.
