Long coat in washed black denim

A long coat with a denim look, oversized buttoned cut and a gradient wash, made for mid-season.

This long coat takes the codes of workwear denim and stretches them over an unusual length: the drape falls to the calf, between 80 and 100 cm depending on the measurement. The result leaves the register of the denim jacket for that of a coat, with a wide volume and a straight line that does not mark the waist.

The fabric is a denim-look weave, in polyester. It gives the grain and the visual hold of jeans, with a gradient wash on the panels that creates a worn effect, never uniform. The black is deep, slightly nuanced depending on the light.

The cut

Roomy cut, dropped shoulders, long sleeves with buttoned cuffs. The garment fastens with a button placket down the full height and works as well open as closed. The shirt collar with lapels structures the top of the silhouette. One size, built on a generous volume: it easily accepts a heavy knit or a hoodie underneath.

How to wear it

It works with wide volumes: straight or baggy jeans, sneakers, a ribbed t-shirt. Closed over a long skirt and boots, it takes on a dressier look. In mid-season, wear it alone; in colder weather, layer it over a big sweater or a sweatshirt — the volume allows it without pulling at the armholes.

A light outer layer: it cuts the wind and dresses the silhouette, but it is not a padded winter coat.

Fabric and care

Composition: 100% polyester, denim-look weave with a gradient wash. Unlined. Tonal topstitching, buttons down the full height and at the cuffs.

Care: Machine wash at 30 °C, delicate cycle, inside out to protect the wash. No bleach. Air dry on a wide hanger; polyester dries fast and smooths out as it dries. Iron gently if needed, warm iron on the reverse. Dry cleaning is possible.

Size

One size, built as an oversized volume: it generally corresponds to a size S to XL, with pronounced ease at the shoulders and the bodice. Total length between 80 and 100 cm, that is a calf-length drape for a height of 1.65 m to 1.70 m. If you are over 1.75 m, expect a below-the-knee length instead. If you wear an XS and want a fitted line, this is not the right cut.

Good to know

• Polyester for a denim garment — does it show? The weave imitates the grain of denim and the wash reinforces the illusion. To the touch, the fabric is smoother and lighter than cotton jeans. In exchange, it does not lose its shape, dries fast and barely creases, which is practical on a piece this long.
• Will one size fit me? The piece is deliberately cut roomy, dropped shoulders and a straight line, with no belt to adjust. It generally corresponds to a size S to XL. The real variable is the length, which depends on your height: see the guide above.
• Is it warm enough for winter? It is a mid-season piece, unlined. It is made for autumn and mild winters. Its wide volume lets you layer it over a big sweater or a thick sweatshirt, which extends its use to cold days without an icy wind.
