Long satin polka dot dress

A long satin polka dot dress, high neck and puff sleeves, designed for dressed-up occasions.

This long dress plays the retro card without turning into a costume: an apricot-tinged cream ground, black dots printed all over the piece, and a satin fabric that catches the light without shining excessively. It is worn for a wedding, a dinner or a ceremony, and is happily put back on outside those occasions.

The cut

The bodice is slightly bloused: it keeps ease over the shoulders and bust, then draws in onto a well-defined high-waist panel. From there, the skirt falls away in gathers on two tiers, down to the ankles. The result: a covering silhouette, but never stiff, that lengthens the leg.

The long sleeves are set as puff sleeves, gathered by narrow cuffs. The collar is high and closed. On the shoulder, a knotted drape lets a panel of fabric fall and follow the movement.

How to wear it

• For a ceremony: court shoes or fine-heeled sandals, a small clutch, discreet earrings. The high neck stands on its own — no need to add a necklace.
• For a dinner: flat sandals or fine ankle boots, a supple belt placed over the waist panel if you want more definition.
• In mid-season: a light trench or a short fitted jacket over the top, with the skirt length still showing.

The fabric

A satin fabric in cotton blended with polyester. The cotton brings hold and avoids the overly slippery effect of purely synthetic satins; the polyester ensures the fluid drape and limits creasing. The polka dot pattern is printed, then set by high-temperature heat fixing, which helps keep the contrast through the washes.

The dress is lined with no rigid element: it stays supple to wear all day long.

Fabric and care

Composition: Satin fabric in cotton blended with polyester. Printed polka dot pattern, set by high-temperature heat fixing. Milky apricot colourway (warm cream) with black dots.

Care: Machine wash at 30 °C, delicate cycle, inside out and preferably in a net bag. No tumble dryer: satin copes poorly with circulating heat. Dry flat or on a wide hanger, away from direct sunlight. Iron at low temperature on the reverse, or steam from a distance. Avoid bleach and chlorine-based stain removers on the dots.

Size

Available in S, M, L, XL and XXL. The cut is loose on the bodice and on the skirt: take your usual size, the ease is already built in. The most fitted point is the waist panel: if your waist measurement falls between two sizes, choose the size up to stay comfortable seated. The length is designed to fall at the ankles on a height of about 1.65 m to 1.70 m; above that, it will sit at high mid-calf, which still looks right with a heel.

Good to know

• Won't the satin shine too much in wedding photos? This is a cotton-blend satin, not a highly reflective silk satin. The light glides over the gathers of the skirt and stays soft on the bodice. The cream ground and the black dots also break up the reflections.
• A long dress with long sleeves and a high neck — is it bearable in high summer? The fabric is fluid and does not cling, and the full skirt lets the air circulate. On a very hot day it remains more comfortable than a heavy material, but we recommend it above all for spring, summer evenings and mid-season.
• Is this a dress you only wear once? The polka dot pattern and the high-waisted line take it out of the strictly ceremonial register. With flat sandals and a short jacket, it works for a lunch or a dinner without looking like wedding attire.
