This midi dress is designed for occasions where you want to be dressed up without overdoing it. The lace is embroidered with flowers all over, with metallic topstitching that catches the light as you move. The contrasting Peter Pan collar, trimmed with beads, and the jewelled buttons on the bodice are enough to structure the top: no necklace is needed.

The cut

The bodice and waist are fitted, close to the body. The skirt flares in an A-line and falls below the knee, over a total length of 130 cm in S to 134 cm in XXL. A matching belt with an oval rhinestone buckle marks the waist. The long sleeves are slightly puffed at the top of the arm, then drawn in at the wrist. The back fastens with a discreet zip set under the neckline.

How to wear it

This is a dress for a wedding guest, a christening or an end-of-year ceremony. Good to know

• The fabric does not stretch: will the dress be comfortable all day? The lace is fine and supple, but with no stretch. Comfort therefore depends on the choice of size. Go by the measurements rather than by your usual size, and take the size up if you are between two. Once the right size is chosen, the flared skirt leaves complete freedom of movement, including seated.
• Is the lace at the bottom of the skirt see-through? Yes, the lower part of the skirt is in sheer lace with a scalloped hem — that is an aesthetic choice. The bodice and the upper skirt stay covering. If you want full opacity down to the hem, wear an underskirt or a slip in the colour of the dress.
• Do the beaded collar and the jewelled buttons survive washing? These elements are fixed to the lace, which is a fine support. They cope poorly with the machine and the spin. Hand wash without rubbing the collar, dry flat, or take the dress to the dry cleaner after a ceremony: that is what best preserves the beads and the metallic topstitching.
