Short denim jacket with a braided collar

A short belted denim jacket, whose contrasting braided collar changes the whole denim wardrobe.

This jacket takes the codes of the denim blouson, with two deliberate departures: a wide collar in braided material, a woven leather effect, and a belt with a metal buckle that marks the waist. The cotton denim is washed in a gradient, with lighter areas on the volumes and a slight worn effect, like a piece already worn for several seasons.

The cut

Short, it stops at the waist. The shoulders are dropped, the sleeves roomy and gathered by buttoned cuffs. The volume is therefore real, but the belt channels it: you choose between a structured silhouette, waist pulled in, or a looser fit by taking the belt out of the loops. The fastening is a wrap with metal snap buttons.

How to wear it

The short length calls for a high waist: straight-leg jeans, wide pants, a long fluid skirt. That is where the piece works best, the volume above answering the fluidity below. Fabric and care

Composition: Washed cotton denim. Contrasting collar and belt in a braided leather-look material. Metal snap buttons and buckle. Non-stretch fabric.

Care: Machine wash at 30 °C on a delicate cycle, inside out and fastened, with dark colors. Avoid the tumble dryer, which can shrink the cotton and dull the wash. Dry flat or on a hanger, in the shade. Iron at medium temperature on the reverse, avoiding the braided collar and the buckle. The collar and the belt are cared for with a slightly damp cloth; remove the belt before washing.

Size

Maker's guidance: S for 158-165 cm and 40-50 kg, M for 158-165 cm and 50-55 kg, L for 160-167 cm and 55-60 kg, XL for 160-170 cm and 60-65 kg. The cut is already generous at the shoulders and the sleeves: there is no need to go above your usual size. If you are between two sizes or plan to wear it over a heavy knit, take the size above. As the denim has no elastane, favor the size above if you have broad shoulders.

Good to know

• Will the volume of the sleeves widen me? That is what the belt is for: it pulls in the waist and rebalances the top. Worn over high-waisted pants, the silhouette stays clean. If you prefer something quieter, remove the belt and leave the jacket open — the line lengthens.
• Will the braided collar stand up to use? It is mounted and topstitched onto the denim collar, not simply glued. It is cared for separately, with a damp cloth, without direct contact with hot water or the iron.
• Is it warm enough for winter? No, it is a mid-season jacket, with no warm lining. It suits spring and autumn, and can take a mild winter over a heavy knit or under an open coat.
