Oversized denim jacket with a floral panel

An oversized denim jacket, fastened with frog buttons and edged with a contrasting floral panel.

This jacket takes the codes of the classic denim jacket and shifts them: the fastening is made with frog buttons lined up on the front, and the bottom of the body is treated as a panel printed with small flowers, breaking with the plain denim of the bodice. The result stays wearable every day, with a detail that shows up close.

The cut

An oversized, straight volume, dropped shoulders, long roomy sleeves gathered at the cuffs. The length stops just below the hips, which keeps the silhouette readable over wide pants as well as straight-leg jeans. The drape is clean: the jacket does not collapse on the shoulders and keeps its structure once open.

The fabric

A polyester denim with an uneven washed look, lighter and more supple than heavy cotton denim. It barely creases and dries fast, which makes it an easy mid-season piece to take along. The edges and some seams are deliberately frayed; the effect is part of the design of the jacket.

How to wear it

Over a fine turtleneck or a white t-shirt, with straight-leg jeans and low sneakers: the floral panel is enough to dress up the outfit. In a head-to-toe denim look, it pairs with the matching wide-leg pants with an elasticated waist. Available in a blue wash and a black wash, more understated in the evening.

Fabric and care

Composition: 100% polyester denim, washed jeans look. Floral printed panel obtained by printing on the same fabric. Frog buttons in tonal braid.

Care: Machine wash at 30 °C on a delicate cycle, jacket closed and turned inside out. No bleach. Air dry on a hanger; tumble drying is not advised. Iron gently at low temperature on the reverse, avoiding the frog buttons and the print. The frayed edges may loosen slightly in the wash: that is the intended effect, simply even out the threads by hand.

Size

Offered in one size, designed oversized. It generally corresponds to a size S to XL, and is worn closer to the body on the larger sizes. The supplier has not provided a measurement chart. The dropped shoulders are intended: do not allow extra margin. If you prefer a closer volume, note that the jacket also wears very well open. The model in the photographs is about 1.70 m.

Good to know

• Polyester — is it worth real cotton denim? It is not the same use. Polyester denim is lighter, barely creases and dries fast: it is a mid-season jacket, not a stiff model that develops a patina over the years. In exchange, the drape is clean from the first outing and the care is simple.
• Is the floral print too much for every day? It is confined to the lower panel, on a narrow band, and stays discreet under a scarf or a shoulder bag. In the black version, the contrast is quieter still.
• Will the oversized volume widen me? The length stops below the hips and the cut stays straight, with no added fullness at the waist. Worn open over a fine base, it lengthens the line rather than thickening it.
