Floral jacquard denim set, jacket and pants

A head-to-toe oversized denim look with a woven floral pattern, hooded jacket and wide-leg pants, for mid-season.

A two-piece set in cotton denim, designed to be worn together or separately. The floral pattern is not printed: it is woven and embroidered into the fabric, which gives it visible relief and a dressier look than plain denim. The deliberately uneven gradient wash plays up the vintage feel.

The jacket

Short, very roomy cut, dropped shoulders, balloon sleeves gathered into an elasticated cuff. The blouson waist sits on a ribbed band, with a frayed fringed finish that is repeated at the cuffs. The hood is lined in a contrasting fabric. Central two-way zip: you can open it from the bottom to free the hips, or wear the jacket half-open. Two zipped patch pockets on the front, visible panel seams and topstitching on the bodice.

The pants

High waist, very wide leg, fluid drape. The length stops at the ankle, with a wide contrasting turn-up hem. The side seams are left frayed, in the same spirit as the jacket.

How to wear it

• As a full look, with white sneakers or low-heeled ankle boots so the volume of the pants is not crushed.
• The jacket on its own over straight-leg jeans, fluid tailored pants or a long knit dress.
• The pants on their own with a ribbed tank tucked in at the waist, or a fine close-fitting sweater to balance the width below.
• In mid-season, over a long-sleeved t-shirt or a fine turtleneck under the jacket.

Colors

Washed blue, brighter and more marked by the gradient. Charcoal gray, more muted, easier to wear in town.

Useful detail: jacquard denim feels a little stiff the first time you wear it. It softens with washing, like a classic pair of jeans.

Fabric and care

Composition: Cotton denim with a woven and embroidered floral pattern, washed finish. The exact composition figures were not given to us by the maker; we would rather not invent them. Hood lined in a contrasting fabric. Elasticated ribbing at the waist and cuffs.

Care: Machine wash at 30 °C on a delicate cycle, inside out, with dark colors. The gradient wash may bleed a little in the first washes: wash it separately the first time. No bleach. Air dry, flat or on a wide hanger; tumble drying is not advised. Iron at medium temperature on the reverse, avoiding the raised pattern. The fringing on the ribbing and side seams is deliberate: do not cut it, it settles after a few washes.

Size

One size. The cut is frankly oversized on both the jacket and the pants: it generally corresponds to a size S to XL. The supplier has not provided a measurement chart. The pants sit high on the waist and fall to the ankle on a frame around 1.68 m; expect a length closer to the calf above 1.75 m. Write to us before ordering and we will measure the piece flat for you.

Good to know

• Will the oversized cut shorten me if I am petite? The risk comes mainly from below. The pants stop at the ankle, which frees the leg and avoids a squashed look. Wear them with a chunky sole or a small heel, and keep the top close to the body under the jacket. As the jacket is short and blouson, it marks the waist instead of erasing it.
• Will the floral pattern fade in the wash? The pattern is woven and embroidered, not printed: it cannot flake or crack. What does change is the shade of the denim, which lightens gradually as with jeans. Washing at 30 °C inside out slows this down noticeably.
• Can I wear the two pieces separately? Yes, that is the point of the set. The jacket works over raw denim jeans or plain fluid pants. The pants go with a simple, close-fitting top. As the pattern is tonal, each piece stays wearable without the other.
