Patchwork denim set, jacket and wide-leg pants

A two-piece set in washed denim, assembled from printed panels, cut roomy from shoulder to ankle.

A denim set made up of a short buttoned jacket and matching wide-leg pants. Both pieces are built by assembly: panels with floral and graphic patterns sit on the shoulders, the collar and the legs, over a base of unevenly washed denim. The result: every piece shows slightly different wash shades and pattern placements.

The cut

The jacket hangs straight, with dropped shoulders and long sleeves that leave the arm free. It stops at hip height. The pants are wide on the thigh, then narrow gradually towards the bottom of the leg, with a soft waist. The set is deliberately worn loose: it is a roomy wardrobe, not a close-fitting silhouette.

• Button fastening on the front of the jacket, flat shirt collar.
• Two flap chest pockets in printed fabric, edges left raw and frayed.

How to wear it

Worn as a full look, with a plain white or black t-shirt underneath and low sneakers or flat ankle boots. As the patchwork denim is already busy, keep the rest simple. The two pieces also work separately: the jacket over straight-leg jeans or a fluid dress, the pants with a ribbed sweater and ankle boots. A mid-season piece, to layer with a light sweatshirt when the temperature drops.

Colors

Available in washed blue and washed black. The blue plays up the workwear spirit, the black makes the set more understated despite the prints.

Fabric and care

Composition: Denim, mainly cotton. Firm weave, non-stretch. The patchwork panels are in contrasting printed fabric, with edges left raw on the pocket flaps.

Care: Machine wash at 30 °C on a delicate cycle, inside out, with similar colors. No bleach. Air dry, flat or on a hanger, away from direct sun. Iron gently on the reverse if needed, avoiding the printed panels. The first washes may bleed a little: wash the set on its own the first time. The frayed pocket edges are intended and may fray a little further over time.

Size

Offered in one size, built on a roomy base. Jacket: about 60 cm back length, 62 cm chest width flat, dropped shoulders. Pants: elasticated waist adjusting from about 66 to 86 cm, total length about 98 cm, inseam about 70 cm. Generally corresponds to a size S to XL, with a closer drape at the larger sizes. If you are under 1.60 m, the pants will probably need a hem. Measurements taken flat, 1 to 2 cm tolerance.

Good to know

• One size — can it really fit me? The set is built on a wide volume, with an elasticated waist on the pants. It generally corresponds to a size S to XL. Simply compare the flat measurements given here with a set you already wear: that is the most reliable guide.
• The wash and the frayed edges — is that a fault? No, they are manufacturing choices. The denim is unevenly washed and the pocket flaps are left raw. No two pieces are therefore strictly identical: that is what gives the piece its look.
• Isn't the printed patchwork too busy to wear? The panels stay localized: shoulders, collar, chest pockets and legs. The rest is plain denim. With a plain top and neutral shoes, the set is easy to wear day to day.
