Denim set, belted jacket and long skirt

A navy blue denim two-piece: a short jacket belted at the waist and a very flared long skirt.

A coordinated set you wear as it is, without having to put an outfit together. The shirt jacket fastens with worked gold buttons and cinches at the waist with a fine tie belt. Vertical darts carry the movement on and shape a flared peplum over the hips. The skirt picks up the same navy blue denim: high waist, generous fullness, fluid drape down to the ankle.

The fabric

A polyester denim with elastane, plain woven. It is more supple and lighter than a classic cotton denim, does not crease easily and keeps its shape through the day. The tonal topstitching, visible on both pieces, structures the cut without adding anything showy.

The cut

• Jacket: pointed shirt collar, short and very fitted cut, peplum with a visible seam, long full sleeves gathered by a wide turn-back cuff.
• Skirt: high waist, flaring out from top to bottom, topstitched hem, ankle length.

The balance is simple: the waist is defined, the bottom is full. The silhouette stays covering without being flat.

How to wear it

At the office, with court shoes or low-heeled ankle boots and a structured bag. In a more relaxed version, with white trainers and a scarf. The two pieces separate without difficulty: the jacket over straight black trousers, the skirt with a plain fine knit.

Fabric and care

Composition: Woven denim: mostly polyester (between 50% and 70%) and elastane (less than 30%). Plain navy blue colourway. Tonal topstitched finishes, gold buttons.

Care: Machine wash at 30 °C, delicate cycle, with similar colours. Fasten the buttons and turn the pieces inside out before washing. No bleach. Air dry on a hanger for the jacket, flat or hanging for the skirt; avoid the tumble dryer, which can damage the elastane. Gentle ironing if needed, warm iron on the reverse.

Size

Available from XS to XXXL. The set is true to size: take your usual size. As the jacket is very fitted at the waist, if you have a large difference between bust and waist, or if you prefer to wear a thick top underneath, go up a size. As the skirt is very flared, only the waist measurement really counts for the choice. If you hesitate between two sizes, choose the larger: the tie belt takes up the ease at the waist.

Good to know

• Polyester — is it warm, or does it itch? The fabric is a woven denim, not a shiny synthetic knit. It stays smooth to the touch and the elastane gives it suppleness. It is lighter than a cotton denim, which makes it comfortable in mid-season as well as in a heated interior in winter. For cold days, wear a fine roll-neck under the jacket.
• Is the long skirt awkward to walk in? No, the fullness is considerable and starts straight from the waist: there is plenty of ease for walking and sitting. The length comes to the ankle, so simply plan on shoes that leave the foot clear to keep the hem off the ground.
• Can the two pieces be worn separately? Yes. The jacket works over straight trousers or raw jeans, the skirt with a fine jumper or a white shirt tucked in. The plain navy blue combines without difficulty with the rest of the wardrobe.
