A washed denim coat, cut long and roomy, with a lined hood and contrasting leopard trims.

This long denim coat falls to the calf, a rare length for a piece in denim. The cut is deliberately roomy: dropped shoulders, a straight line that flares slightly towards the bottom. It fastens with a row of snap buttons down the full height and works just as well open, like a long overshirt, as closed in cool weather.

The fabric

A washed polyester denim, more supple and lighter than traditional jeans. It hangs straight without breaking and does not crease the first time you put it away. The wash comes in two intensities: a nuanced charcoal black and a classic mid blue.

How to wear it

Volume calls for volume. Wear it over wide jeans and sneakers, or over straight-leg pants and boots to lengthen the line. In mid-season a simple t-shirt underneath is enough. In winter it goes over a thick sweater or a hoodie without pulling at the shoulders. The black goes with everything; the blue works well with beige, gray and off-white.

Fabric and care

Composition: 100% polyester denim. Contrasting leopard-print trims. Lined hood. Metal snap-button fastening.

Care: Machine wash at 30 °C on a delicate cycle, inside out, with similar colors. No bleach. Air dry on a wide hanger; the tumble dryer is to be avoided. Iron gently at low temperature if needed, avoiding the printed trims. The frayed cuffs are deliberate: do not cut the threads, they settle after the first few washes.

Size

Very roomy cut, one size in the oversized spirit: the coat is designed to float over the body, with dropped shoulders and a calf length. It generally corresponds to a size S to XL. The supplier has not provided a measurement chart. If you prefer a less voluminous drape, it can be worn open and belted. On a frame under 1.60 m the length will fall below the calf, which still fits the look it is after.

Good to know

• Polyester — is it still pleasant to wear? It is not a stiff cotton denim, and that is deliberate. The polyester makes the coat lighter, more supple on the shoulders and more stable in the wash. As this is an outer layer worn over other clothes, direct contact with the skin barely comes into it.
• Isn't the leopard pattern too loud? It is confined to narrow trims on the pockets, the hood and the hem. It underlines the lines of the coat rather than covering it. From a distance, what you see is mostly a long plain denim coat.
• Is it warm enough for winter? It is a mid-season piece. The denim cuts the wind and the length protects the legs, but there is no quilted lining. In deep winter, the roomy cut lets you slide a thick sweater or a hoodie underneath without feeling tight.
