Wide washed high-waisted jeans

Jeans in non-stretch cotton, high waist and a very wide leg, with a lightly aged light wash.

These jeans take up the codes of 1990s denim: a high waist, a very full straight leg that flares gently towards the bottom, and a generous length that falls over the shoe. The cotton is non-stretch, of standard weight: it holds the line of the trousers instead of moulding the leg.

The vintage blue colourway comes from a stone wash. The blue stays light, with brighter shading at the top of the thighs and under the seat, as on a pair of jeans already worn in. The topstitching is tonal, discreet, to keep a sober finish.

The cut

• High waist sitting at the waistband, with a rise of about 27 cm at the front in size M.
• Wide, even leg, hem opening of 59 to 62 cm depending on the size.
• Total length from 100 cm (S) to 103 cm (XL): designed to be worn long, with a flat heel or an ankle boot.
• Heavy, structured drape, with no clinging on the thigh.

The finishes

• Exposed button fly.
• Wide belt loops, compatible with a thick belt.
• Two slant pockets at the front and a small coin pocket on the right.
• Patch back pockets with buttoned flaps.

How to wear them

The volume at the bottom calls for a top close to the body: a fitted T-shirt, a ribbed vest, a fine roll-neck. Tuck the top into the waistband to define the silhouette. On your feet, a low-heeled ankle boot or a thick-soled loafer stops the hem trailing. In winter, they go under a long coat or a short jacket such as a darker denim blouson.

Fabric and care

Composition: 100% cotton denim, non-stretch. Standard weight. Stone wash and water wash.

Care: Machine wash at 30 °C, inside out, with dark colours. The first wash is best done on its own: washed denim may bleed slightly. No bleach. Air dry, flat or on a hanger, never in the tumble dryer, to preserve the length. Iron at medium temperature on the reverse if necessary.

L: waist 74 cm, hips 101 cm, thigh 66 cm, opening 61 cm, length 102 cm. XL: waist 78 cm, hips 105 cm, thigh 68 cm, opening 62 cm, length 103 cm. The waist measurement given is that of the jeans' waistband, measured flat and doubled. As the cotton is non-stretch, take the size up if your waist measurement exceeds the value given, or if you prefer a very loose fit.

Good to know

• Is non-stretch denim comfortable? The cut is full from the thigh to the leg opening: the comfort comes from the volume, not from elastane. The cotton softens after a few wears and the waist does not stretch out as on a pair of stretch jeans.
• I am under 1.65 m — will the length be a problem? The total length runs from 100 to 103 cm; it is designed to fall over the shoe. Under 1.65 m, wear them with an ankle boot with a 3 to 5 cm heel, or have the hem shortened: as the leg is straight, a hem does not change the line.
• Will the wash fade in the laundry? The wash is obtained with stone, it is part of the fabric's colour and not a print. The jeans change slightly over time, like any light denim. A 30 °C wash inside out limits that change.
