Long dress with a two-piece effect, tweed and tulle

One dress, two looks: a lurex tweed bodice with jewelled buttons, a pleated tulle skirt down to the ankle.

This dress imitates a jacket-and-skirt set, without the constraints of a two-piece. The bodice takes up the codes of the lurex tweed jacket: high mandarin collar, structured shoulders, narrow long sleeves, buttoned flap pockets at the top and at the bottom. The front fastens with square rhinestone buttons, present enough to dress the outfit up with no other jewellery.

Below the slightly scooped peplum, the skirt changes register entirely. Several layers of pleated tulle, lined, give volume and movement. The sheer tulle hem stays visible and lightens the line at the floor. The length comes to the ankle: 124 cm in total in S, 128 cm in 2XL.

A cut that marks the waist

The bodice is shaped, with shaping seams at the back and a back zip that keeps the line clean at the front. The waist is drawn in just above the fullness of the skirt: it is that contrast of a fitted top and a very full bottom that structures the silhouette. The shoulders measure 38 cm in S and rise steadily to 42 cm in 2XL, the sleeves from 58 to 62 cm.

How to wear it

• In black, for an end-of-year evening or a dressed-up dinner, with fine court shoes and discreet earrings.
• In beige, for a daytime ceremony or a wedding, with heeled sandals and a clutch in the same tone.
• For a professional event: keep the accessories sober, the rhinestone buttons are enough.
• In cold weather, a long straight coat sits well over the top — the tulle skirt does not crush.

What to know

The tweed has a textured look with a discreet shiny thread. The tulle is pleated and layered: it creases little but needs to be hung to keep its fullness. Store the dress on a hanger, skirt free, without compressing it between two garments.

Fabric and care

Composition: Bodice: tweed-look fabric with a lurex thread, textured and with hold. Skirt: pleated tulle in several layers, fully lined, with a visible sheer tulle hem. The detailed composition has not been communicated by the manufacturer: we prefer not to invent it.

Care: Hand wash cold or dry clean, preferably dry cleaning to preserve the pleating and the rhinestone buttons. No tumble dryer. Dry flat for the bodice, on a hanger for the skirt. Iron at low temperature on the reverse of the bodice only; never iron the tulle directly, use steam from a distance. Close the back zip before washing.

The cut is fitted on the bodice: if you hesitate between two sizes, or if you have a fuller bust, take the size up. Compare your bust and waist measurements with the values above, keeping 4 to 6 cm of ease.

Good to know

• Does the tulle scratch the skin? The skirt is fully lined. The pleated tulle stays on the surface; only the sheer hem at the bottom is in direct contact with the calf or ankle, depending on your shoes.
• Is the dress easy to put on by yourself? The bodice opens by a zip at the back. The buttons at the front are decorative and stay fastened. For a zip set high, help at the first fitting is more comfortable.
• An ankle length — does that work if I am under 1.65 m? The dress measures 124 cm in S, worn from under the bust by the marked waistline. Below 1.65 m, plan on a 5 to 7 cm heel or a slight shortening by a tailor: pleated tulle is easily taken up at the hem.
