This long dress plays the embroidered lace card: a motif of roses and foliage laid on a sheer base, lined over the body to stay opaque where it needs to be. The sleeves, for their part, deliberately stay translucent and give the whole thing an airy drape.

Fabric and care

Composition: 100% polyester. Lace embroidered on a sheer base, polyester lining on the bodice and the skirt. Unlined sleeves, an openly translucent effect.

Care: Hand wash in cold water, separately the first few times. Do not use bleach. Do not dry clean. Iron at low temperature, preferably on the reverse or with a cloth in between to protect the embroidery. Dry on a hanger, in the shade, without machine spinning.

Good to know

• Is the lace see-through? The bodice and the skirt are lined, so you have nothing to add underneath. Only the sleeves stay translucent: that is the intended effect, with the arm showing faintly through the embroidery.
• Is polyester too warm for a summer wedding? The fabric is light and the flared skirt lets the air circulate, but polyester remains less breathable than cotton or viscose. It suits a spring day or a temperate summer well, less so a heatwave in full sun.
• Does it really need hand washing? Yes. The embroidery and the openwork base do not survive the rubbing of the drum. A hand wash in cold water and drying on a hanger are enough to keep it crisp. Between two wears, simply airing it often saves a wash.
