Denim jacket with a removable hood

A light blue denim jacket with a loose cut, and a removable grey jersey hood to change the look in one move.

This denim jacket takes the codes of the classic denim blouson and adds a grey jersey hood, buttoned at the collar and therefore removable. With the hood in place, the piece takes on a sportswear feel. With the hood off, you get a clean denim jacket to wear over anything.

The denim is a shaded light blue wash, bright and easy to combine. The topstitching is tonal, the panel seams discreet, and the back stands out with a row of buttons set on the diagonal.

The cut

Loose volume and a short length, stopping at the waist. The shoulders are dropped, the sleeves wide and finished with an adjustable button cuff. The hem is drawn in by a buttoned band, which marks the waist without squeezing. Button fastening at the front and two large patch pockets with slanted openings.

How to wear it

• Over straight jeans or wide trousers, with white trainers.
• Over a fluid mid-length dress: the contrast of volumes works well.

Fabric and care

Composition: Cotton denim for the body of the jacket, firm weave and lightly washed. Contrasting grey jersey hood, with printed ribbon drawcords. Metal buttons at the front, on the cuffs and on the waistband. The exact composition is given on the garment's inner label.

Care: Remove the hood before washing. Machine wash at 30°C, inside out, with dark colours for the first few washes. No bleach. Air dry, flat or on a wide hanger; avoid the tumble dryer to preserve the denim. Warm iron on the reverse if needed. Like any washed denim, the shade may move slightly over the first few washes: avoid prolonged contact with a light-coloured textile while the jacket is damp.

Size

The jacket is cut loose: take your usual size for the intended volume, or one size down if you prefer a narrower drape. The supplier gives these indicative guides by build: S up to about 47 kg, M from 47 to 52 kg, L from 52 to 57 kg, XL from 57 to 65 kg, 2XL from 65 to 72 kg, 3XL from 72 to 78 kg. These guides remain approximate: go above all by your bust measurement and by the thickness of what you will wear underneath.

Good to know

• Is the hood really removable? Yes, it fastens by buttoning at the collar and comes off without tools. You can leave it in place for a sportswear look or take it off for a classic denim jacket.
• Will the loose cut make me look shorter? The length stops at the waist and the buttoned band at the hem draws the garment in at that point. The volume therefore stays on the upper body, which lengthens the silhouette, especially worn with straight or high-waisted trousers.
• Is the denim stiff to begin with? The weave is firm, as on any new denim jacket. It relaxes slightly with wear, particularly at the elbows and armholes. The dropped shoulders and wide sleeves leave enough ease from the start to layer a sweatshirt underneath.
