Military-style light denim jacket with gold braid trim

A short jacket inspired by officers' jackets, in light washed denim, lifted by frogging and gold buttons.

This jacket takes up the codes of the officer's jacket: a high collar, braided gold frogging across the whole front and a double row of gold dome buttons. The light washed denim, paler at the top of the garment, softens the whole and gives the piece relief.

The cut

A straight, short cut stopping at the waist: 53 cm in total length in XS, 56 cm in L. The shoulders are clean, with no added volume. The long sleeves run down to the wrist, with a slight opening and a stitched panel at the bottom of the sleeve. The bust measurement runs from 96 cm in XS to 108 cm in L, which leaves ease to wear a fine jumper underneath.

How to wear it

The short length falls right at the waist: it works over a fluid dress, a midi skirt or high-waisted trousers. With straight jeans and ankle boots, it is enough to structure a simple outfit. In mid-season, it is worn on its own over a T-shirt; in cooler weather, over a fine knit.

The fabric

Polyester fabric with a denim look, of medium weight (about 750 g for the jacket). It holds its shape, keeps the structure of the shoulders and does not crease easily: no ironing is needed after drying on a hanger.

Fabric and care

Composition: 100% polyester, woven with a washed denim look, medium weight. Garment weight: about 0.748 kg. Braided trim and gold buttons in gold-toned metal.

Care: Machine wash at 30 °C, delicate programme, inside out to protect the trim and the buttons. No bleach. Air dry on a hanger, or flat if possible, to preserve the line of the shoulders. Tumble drying is not advised. Ironing is unnecessary; if needed, a gentle iron on the reverse, avoiding the gold braids.

A straight cut, true to size, with slight ease. XS: shoulders 40 cm, bust 96 cm, sleeve 65 cm, length 53 cm. S: shoulders 41 cm, bust 100 cm, sleeve 66 cm, length 54 cm. M: shoulders 42 cm, bust 104 cm, sleeve 67 cm, length 55 cm. L: shoulders 43 cm, bust 108 cm, sleeve 68 cm, length 56 cm. Measurements taken flat, tolerance of 1 to 2 cm. If you hesitate between two sizes, or want to wear a jumper underneath, take the size up.

Good to know

• Is such a decorated jacket really wearable day to day? The light denim defuses the costume side: over straight jeans or a plain dress, the jacket becomes the outfit's single statement piece. It is a garment to wear with a simple wardrobe, not to layer with other strong pieces.
• Does polyester hold up? Here the polyester is woven to imitate denim: it keeps the structure of the collar and the shoulders, does not lose shape in the wash and does not crease. It is less breathable than cotton, which makes it a mid-season jacket rather than a summer one.
• How do I choose my size without trying it on? All the flat measurements are given, size by size. Compare the bust and shoulder width with a jacket you already wear: that is the most reliable method. The tolerance is 1 to 2 cm.
