Fitted safari jacket with a high collar

A safari jacket in trench twill, shaped by its panel seams, to wear open or buttoned to the collar.

This safari jacket takes up the codes of the military wardrobe without the stiffness. The gabardine-type twill, matte and firm, holds its shape and gives body to the shoulders as well as to the pockets. It is a mid-season piece, to throw on over a T-shirt in April or over a fine knit in October.

A defined waist with no belt

The shaping comes from the vertical panel seams placed front and back, underlined with topstitching. The result: the waist is drawn permanently, even with the jacket open, and there is no belt to tie. The shoulders are structured, the hem slightly flared, the length stops at the hips (72 cm in XS to 75 cm in L).

How to wear it

Open over raw jeans and white trainers during the week. Buttoned to the collar with fluid trousers and ankle boots for a cleaner look. The firm fabric copes well with supple materials: it also works over a straight dress or a midi skirt.

The measurements are taken flat, with a tolerance of 1 to 2 cm. The shade may vary slightly depending on the lighting of the photos.

Fabric and care

Composition: Gabardine-type twill (trench fabric), matte look and firm handle. Non-stretch jacket. Weight of the piece: about 0.63 kg.

Care: Hand wash or machine wash at 30 °C, delicate programme, inside out. No bleach. Dry flat or on a wide hanger, with no tumble dryer, to preserve the hold of the twill. Iron at medium temperature, on the reverse, working on the pocket flaps and the collar. Fasten one or two buttons before washing so the front does not lose its shape.

A cut fitted at the waist, with structured shoulders. Measurements taken flat, tolerance of 1 to 2 cm. XS: length 72 cm, shoulders 46 cm, bust 96 cm, waist 74 cm, hem 108 cm, armhole 49 cm. S: length 73 cm, shoulders 47 cm, bust 100 cm, waist 78 cm, hem 112 cm, armhole 50.6 cm. M: length 74 cm, shoulders 48 cm, bust 104 cm, waist 82 cm, hem 116 cm, armhole 52.5 cm. L: length 75 cm, shoulders 49 cm, bust 108 cm, waist 86 cm, hem 120 cm, armhole 53.8 cm. Advice: as the jacket is fitted, go first by your waist measurement. If you plan to wear it over a jumper, take the size up.

Good to know

• Is the fitted cut comfortable, or too tight? The waist is defined by panel seams, not by elastic or a belt. Compare your waist measurement with those given: about 6 to 8 cm of ease remains on the stated measurement. To wear it over a thick knit, go up a size.
• Is the fabric warm enough for winter? No, it is a mid-season jacket. The trench twill cuts the wind and copes with a light shower, but it is not a coat. In deep winter, it is worn as a layer under a longer coat, or with a thick knit underneath.
• Does the colour really match the photos? The images are taken under several lightings: a slight variation of shade is possible from one image to another. The reference remains the front view in neutral light. The twill has a matte look, with no shine.
